Two-Dimensional Quantum Cosmology*

چکیده

Two-dimensional quantum gravity coupled to conformally invariant matter with central charge c > 25 has been proposed as a toy model for quantum gravity in higher dimensions. The associated “Wheeler-Dewitt equation” is non-linear and unstable to forming a condensate of baby universes. This will occur even in the classical c + co limit. Small fluctuations about this background describe the propagation of single universes and satisfy a more conventional linear WheelerDewitt equation. The resulting two-dimensional cosmology depends on details of the non-linear dynamics. In particular the existence of a large scale cosmological constant is determined by the behavior of a string theoretic tachyon potential near its minimum.

Accelerating universe in two-dimensional noncommutative dilaton cosmology

We show that the phase transition from the decelerating universe to the accelerating universe, which is of relevance to the cosmological coincidence problem, is possible in the semiclassically quantized two-dimensional dilaton gravity by taking into account the noncommutative field variables during the finite time. Initially, the quantum-mechanically induced positive energy from the noncommutat...

Quantum Cosmology on the Worldsheet*

Two-dimensional quantum gravity coupled to conformally invariant matter with central charge c > 25 provides a toy model for quantum gravity in four dimensions. Two-dimensional quantum cosmology can thus be studied in terms of string theory in background fields. The large scale cosmological constant depends on non-linear dynamics in the string theory target space and does not appear to be suppre...

Quantum cosmology of generalized two-dimensional dilaton-gravity models.

The quantum cosmology of two-dimensional dilaton-gravity models is investigated. A class of models is mapped onto the constrained oscillator-ghostoscillator model. A number of exact and approximate solutions to the corresponding Wheeler-DeWitt equation are presented. A wider class of minisuperspace models that can be solved in this fashion is identified. Supersymmetric extensions to the induced...

When the classical & quantum mechanical considerations hint to a single point; a microscopic particle in a one dimensional box with two infinite walls and a linear potential inside it

In this paper we have solved analytically the Schrödinger equation for a microscopic particle in a one-dimensional box with two infinite walls, which the potential function inside it, has a linear form. Based on the solutions of this special quantum mechanical system, we have shown that as the quantum number approaches infinity the expectation values of microscopic particle position and square ...
